There appears to be no distance limit, only an increasing build cost. Using ziplines doesn't require stamina or anything, it's a passive ride. The major limiting factor on their usage is angle of descent - the steeper the incline, the faster you move. If it isn't steep, expect a leisurely pace. Definitely need to build a catcher area high and wide to catch the stems and grass. Helps to have someone at the receiving end to watch and see where items fall outside so you know if you need to build higher or wider. Also clover roofs help catch and make the items drop down into the catcher area. 2. You likely had the zip lines at a very low angle if they felt slow.
