DVR is the only thing you cant get on the app. On Demand has commercials, a DVR does not. The benefit of the box is the app is slower, behind the actual cable feed. As a sports fan this is important to me. The box doesn't use internet so if you have low or no signal strength it shouldn't affect the box.

My streaming service at my other home is DirectTV Streaming and I have cloud dvr service.
