Staccato Ps don't need to cost $2.5k, but it's foolish to expect a pistol thats $1k cheaper to be "just as good". Both the prodigy's were $1400 OTD at a lgs. so $1,000 savings vs the Staccato for me (for 1 Prodigy vs 1 Staccato). Of course now I want the P, cause buy all the guns. Even if I add an EGW ignition kit to the 5", I'd still be $850 cheaper than the P. For some that is pocket change, for others, not so much.

Just from this one photo I would bet that the build quality is better on the Staccato. That doesn't mean the springfield won't be a reliable gun though. You're talking about a $900 price difference between the prodigy and a staccato p that's optic ready.
