Part time 4wd vehicles don't need rear diff and transfer case fluid changes as often as the VTM-4 fluid. At least, not in my experience. The RL needs the VTM-4 fluid changed per the MM. Generally, the first change will be in the 10k-15k mile range. The 2nd probably in the 30k-35k range. Do not use anything else but VTM-4 fluid from Honda for this.Honda's solution was to change the fluid more frequently. Those took DPSF too. When I had my RL I changed the rear diff just shy of 5k and I was surprised how many particles I saw. If you DIY, it's cheap and easy to do it yourself more frequently.
