Production was reinstated in 1956, the beginning of the "2nd Generation" of SAA's. 1976 saw the introduction of the "3rd Generation" (New Model) SAA's, which are still being made as I write these words in 2006.

In my experience, most problems with some 3rd Gen SAAs center around poorly timed / fitted action parts and poorly fitted gripframes. The pictures below show some problems. Most of these guns are older production. First, the picture below shows the hammer / gripframe area on a 1st Gen SAA. This is how a perfectly fitted SAA should look.

That mainspring screw has been in and out of that SAA several times and by someone who probably didn't have SAA screwdrivers or bits.
