Specifically with the nails, I looked at Reddit Laqueristas in the mornings to encourage myself. I also used nail strengthening polish, and painted my nails with coloured polish frequently to discourage chewing. Like it was said already, cuticle remover, or a Russian manicure, so using a flame medium drill tip you can eat right through the cuticle. If you're using a diamond bit on a lower speed it's a bit harder to mash through living skin so I'd say give that a try.
