This is because the plant takes a lot longer to go stale/rotten, unlike cabbages. If you have a generator and fuel, then this becomes moot. For potatoes, I’d suggest a 10 or 12 day rotation. I got to carpentry lvl 4 and was trying to make a rain collector. I kept looking for the recipe in the crafting dialog window but couldn't find it. But using the right click menu > carpentry > furniture > rain collector barrel, worked. So maybe it's not a "recipe" and it's just something you build .
