This is a BP (or a little hotter) level load. Larger 5744 doses can be used for strong actions, but I usually go with other powders for stiff loads. Trail Boss didn't even come close to being the best powder in the 45-70 for accuracy, and recoil with other powders is very, very mild if loaded right.
