I tried searching on the web but could not find how to date the particular model 60SB that I just purchased. It is stamped at made in Huntsville, AL and the serial is MN50787A. I know its not old because it has a url stamped on it but its not a Ruger as it does not have their prefix. The serial numbers then went on from there, intermixing models up to 1916. The date you have on your letter is not the manufacturing date, but is a shipping date.

The Marlin records actually end in December of 1906 at about 355,500 and no reference is made after that date. Anything between 1906 and about 1940 is pretty much an estimation as there are no records to help dating when a Marlin was manufactured. Maybe you can help me with my serial #.
