You are the second person on Tidalfish that I am aware of that has reported a fly-caught 'eye. Salmo trutta also caught one and posted a photo--I seem to remember that one was in the tidal Potomac at Blueplains outflow. I struggle to catch them on spinning rods so I never even try fly rods!

Make a propstick out of 1 1/4 PVC or 1 1/2-whatever size your rod holder is. Then, notch out the PVC where the bar in the bottom of our rod holder is.
