Looking to utilize an EG4 6500EX inverter. I know it can handle up to 8kw max across both MPPTs. I want to however have a total of 10KW solar panels and have parallel strings. There is not any reason to do it different. However, you do have a grid supply. Unless you install a 3 pole transfer switch before the main panel where neutral is switched, then it isn't truly off grid.

Installed communication cables from batteries to inverter, and verified with signature solar that the bms is talking to the inverter. The problem is that some settings should have switched from battery voltage to battery percentage. They didn't.
As @timselectric said, if you have EG4 set for option 5 (battery comms) the batteries could be limiting your charge current. Unfortunately when battery comms are used, the inverter values don't update with what values the batteries are actually using. You would have to plug a computer into the batteries and use the BMS tools app to see what's going on from that standpoint.

Everyone knows about the high idle consumption (115w) but there also looks to be a 250W loss from the PV input to the PV output (MPPT loss/pwr consumption). The 250w looks to be consistent across the full pwr input range but is a killer at low pv input ...1) Install 500-600W PV panels totaling 8kW-9kW. 2) Split-phase Inverter (s) - I really like the Sol-Ark 15k because it seems to meet all of my needs, but is expensive. 3) 6 - LiFePower4 Batteries (to start) 4) Stay connected to grid. 5) Add a DC generator to charge batteries as a failsafe in the event of extended bad weather.
Two days ago while I was working on my car in the garage, I heard a click and fan noise ramp down/up on my EG4 6500EX. I didn't think anything of it. Then a minute later, it did the same thing again. And then another minute, same thing. I stopped what I was doing to take a look at the EG4.Out of the box inverters, original firmware, I had "ground sensitive" equipment that would fault on battery power. It was faulting as there was no neutral ground bond. It likely made GFCI protection impossible. Signature solar made a video on use cases for N/G bonding.
